New Test Group Format
How do Test groups work?
The Test Group program is a year round program (June to May) designed to put your child into small groups of no more than 8 players ideally. The makeup of each group will be gender specific when possible but will always consist of players with similar ability. The program will focus on:
Focused Training - Technical ball skill development in dynamic game-like environments along with a focus on small group tactical and creative play.
Mental Coaching – Preparation, Confidence, Consistent Performance, etc.
Soccer Education – Video clips of the greats, books from contemporary players, and more.
Physical Education – Proper nutrition, stretching, and how to manage the athlete’s body.
Objective Evaluation – Each player will be challenged and tested using objective player metrics designed to give you a snapshot of your child’s development along the pathway to becoming a complete soccer player.
What about my Club Soccer? The Test Group program is meant to be an alternative to Club soccer as it focuses only on player development and not wins/losses, leagues, and national exposure before it is necessary. Also, Club soccer schedules will impact your ability to participate in small sided tournaments with us across the State during the year (we have plans for out of state tournaments as well). However, we realize that some of you are not yet ready to make that leap. That’s okay. Footwork Labs has training packages for you as well that include training in small groups.
